Dr. Jo has been a psychologist for 14 years and living with chronic illnesses since she was 15. She's worked in community mental health, university counseling centers, multiple Veterans Affairs hospitals, nursing homes, and now private practice.

Since she's a recovering overachiever, she's also an author, an editor, a registered yoga teacher and trained as a death & mourning doula. She has been known to dress as a unicorn--repeatedly--and has been kissed by a giant Amazonian river otter.

Show Notes:
  1. Find trusted allies, either in person or online (or both!).

  2. Really get to know your illness): what it likes, what it doesn't like, what calms it, what gets it riled up. Make a list to help you design your activities. Break your list into categories like: mental, physical, environmental, etc.

  3. Think beyond the office: You can get creative with your training/skill set to adapt your work to your chronic illness.
